The tools we use to interface with the world around us impact our lives and how we feel about ourselves. They make us feel competent, powerful, taken care of, respected, forgotten, diminished, weak or strong.  This is our last interdisciplinary forum before our summer break. It is going to explore three approaches to embolden bodies; one is through commercial products whose designs are based on the in-depth study of user experiences, exemplified by IDEO’s human centered design process, the other is the individualized style of problem solving by occupational therapists – ‘hacking’ existing tools and ‘rigging’ solutions that allow a person to continue to enjoy and perform their activities, and the third one is the multidisciplinary AHWGO approach of evaluating a person’s well being in their home and encouraging solutions that are available and economically attainable within their environment.
