Lifelong Homes: Resource and Ally

September 5, 2019,
6pm to 8pm Doors open at 5:30pm.
Ed Roberts Campus, Berkeley

Most people age in their own home, either because of preference or necessity, but most homes do not support aging at home. Millions of Americans live in homes that lack five basic accessibility features: no step entry, single floor living, extra wide doorways and halls, accessible controls and switches, lever style door and faucet handles. As they age, many adults have difficulties maintaining the livability of their home, which is often their biggest asset. Home maintenance – together with home adaptations that address the various economic, emotional and physical realities of growing older – need to be recognized as components of healthy aging by homeowners, policy makers and industries. In this forum, AHWGO invites organizations that provide home maintenance, both nonprofit and for profit, and a local hardware store to look at the resources they are providing through the lens of age-friendly home environments.

This forum will feature speakers from AAA, Rebuilding Together San Francisco, and Cole Hardware.

We would like to thank our season sponsors, Rhoda Goldman Plaza & Community Living Campaign.

Refreshments will be served.
