With increased longevity comes a higher risk of dementia. In the United States alone, roughly five million people suffer from Alzheimer’s, a figure that is expected to more than double by 2050. Of the seventy-nine million boomers, fourteen million are expected to develop Alzheimer’s or some other form of dementia.

In this forum we looked at if and how we and the world we live in can creatively accommodate and adapt to this way of being. We asked for three perspectives,  from the worlds of ‘bodies (medicine)’, social networks and environmental design and explored how we can interweave them to create a world that accommodates forgetfulness.

Presenters were Dr. Mehrdad Ayati, Stanford Universitiy, Patricia Ris, Memory Care Cafe, Clare Cooper Marcus. Professor Emerita UC Berkeley.
