On March 11 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a world wide pandemic due to Covid-19. The pandemic inordinately effected older people and people of color. This pandemic has resulted in a massive loss of life, where people died alone and mourners were unable to exercise the funeral rites to help them deal with grief. It has also caused economic hardship from loss of employment and businesses, loss of social networks, disruption of educational and developmental milestones for children and increase in mental health coping for millions around the world. This is a world wide health crisis in and it is important that the collective trauma of the last year be acknowledged. We are asking the United Nations to declare March 11 as a yearly day of reflection. And starting this March 11, we suggest you reflect on the past year with a moment of silence at noon in your time zone to honor this truly universal experience.
